GENERAL DESCRIPTION

These 4 kilns were built in 1994 by Salton for Interfor at Fraser Mills. They were purchased at auction in December of 2005, carefully dismantled and stored in containers. The fan motors were re built and stored indoors and the boiler has also been stored indoors. The drawings have been revamped and blue prints have all been prepared for properly rebuilding the kilns. The kilns include 4 kiln bays 33’ x 42’
(enough for approximately 80-100MBF of 2” lumber per kiln bay), a low pressure steam heating system fired by natural gas, 6 - 10HP fans per kiln, wall and door panels, man doors, baffles, heating coils, control equipment, electrical parts, support beams, and all other miscellaneous parts. Please note that some parts may need to be repaired or replaced, but all of the major equipment (ie boiler, fans, doors) is in good working order. When purchased from Interfor, the kilns had only operated for 7-8 years at Fraser Mills and were in good working order when we dismantled them 3 years ago. See the following
pages for detailed parts descriptions.

1994 SALTON KILNS

BUILDING STRUCTURE

Blue prints: We have had engineered drawings prepared for rebuilding the kiln with some
modifications. The drawings include instructions for preparing the slab, walls, anchors,
ceiling and roof.

Fan housing: The fan housing for each of the 4 kilns is included and in good shape. See picture below.

Support beams: The support beams needed to rebuild each of the 4 charges are also included. See picture below.

Kiln Doors: The kiln door working parts are all included as well as the door panels. There are also 7
man doors included.

Wall and ceiling panels: The wall, door and ceiling panels for the kiln have been stored inside containers and have been kept in fairly good condition. Some of the wall panels will likely need to be replaced if they are to be used in the construction of the kiln. In our plans to build the kiln, we did not reuse the wall panels. We had plans to build the walls using concrete block. In this plan, we were able to reuse some of the wall panels to replace any damaged ceiling or door panels.

WORKING PARTS

Fan Motors: The fan motors have been rebuilt and painted. They are 10HP with a max RPM of 1160.
There are a total of 24 motors.

Fan blades: The fan blades have been removed from the motors and carefully stored. They are 4.5’ in
span.

Boiler and Burner: The Boiler / Burner combo is Mohawk made model #’s: 4-4.2-1276 / F16-G-75. both
were made in 1994. It is a low pressure boiler, producing a max steam pressure of 15PSI.
It has a steam capacity of 10350 lb/hr.

Pipes and coils for heating system: The dry kiln has an intricate heating system. All of the original piping is in storage with the other equipment. It may be deemed necessary to replace some of the elbows and coils during re-building of the kiln. The blue prints required for rebuilding the steam heating system are available from Salton Dry Kilns.

Control system: The computer control system is in storage. A new PC may be required to operate the
kilns properly.

Electrical equipment: The electrical control panels are all still intact and there is a brand new 600 to 480V transformer as well.

Vents, wet/dry bulbs and other miscellaneous parts: Most of the miscellaneous parts are stored in the containers. There me be some holes that need to be filled in due to lost or damaged parts.
